Crypto Thanksgiving
Three Crypto Blessings I’m Thankful For
Thankfulness is a Virtue
Thankful people are happy people. A thankful person is the old man who holds his umbrella over a mom and her baby in the middle of a thunderstorm even though he has never seen them before and has absolutely zero reason to be that heroic. A thankful person is the kind of person who leaves an unexpected tip so generous the waiter looks around the room trying to figure out which customer is secretly Santa Claus. Thankful people make the world go round.
So I am going to add a little Thanksgiving joy to the mix. I won’t talk about my family because that is boring for everyone else (love you wifey) but I will talk about all the good things that actually happened in crypto this year. Let’s go!
The Genius Act
I am thankful the Genius Bill passed. 1 Nothing in legislation is perfect, but creating real rules for stablecoins is a no brainer. Honestly, this should have been done five years ago, but I am also a little shocked the boomers in Congress actually figured this one out. Clear regulation means dollar backed stablecoins are no longer in a legal gray zone, which finally gives big businesses the confidence to use them. And once stablecoins become normal in the corporate world, the rest of the crypto ecosystem follows, from Ethereum and XRP to eventually Bitcoin. This new framework opens the door for mass adoption.
Good Bye Gary, Hello Justice
Ding dong! The clown is gone. Gary Gensler and his SEC put a boot on the neck of cryptocurrency for four years. Did they offer clear guidance for crypto companies? Nope. Did they randomly sue crypto companies? Yes. Did they protect the American people? No. Did they drive the crypto industry out of the USA to places like Dubai and Singapore? Absolutely.
But now Trump has removed Gary, and the SEC is run by reasonable people who are open to crypto innovation. 2 I doubt the companies that fled the USA will return, but it is reasonable to believe that blockchain startups can now relax and focus on building again.
Ethereum Transactions Got Cheaper
I love Ethereum, but Ethereum transactions have not always loved me back. I have seen fees hit thirty dollars just to make a simple trade on Uniswap. I still remember when Crypto Kitties in 2018 clogged the entire network and turned every transaction into a waiting game. But none of that is a problem in 2025. Ethereum’s Dencun and Pectra upgrades have made everything dramatically cheaper. 3 My last swap cost me less than thirty cents instead of thirty dollars. Layer 2s on Ethereum are still great, but they are no longer a requirement for plebs like you and me.
Final Word
Have a wonderful thanksgiving.

Thankful for My Students and Readers
And now I move to my small corner of the crypto world. I am grateful for all of my Substack readers who have recently joined me. Your likes, comments, and shares encourage me, and seeing each of you subscribe tells me that you care about crypto too. That means more to me than you know.
I am also grateful for my students in my Crypto Confidence School. They ask great questions, keep me sharp, and keep me excited about crypto every single week. Without both my readers and my students, Crypto Confidence would just be a guy talking to himself in an office. You all make this journey worthwhile.
